I guess this has been discussed before but I can’t find the answer. Do British CDS holders living in France have to go through the palaver of having to have their finger prints, mugshots and all the rest of it taken at UK ports, airports, tunnel or whatever when traveling back and forth between France and the UK ?
If you have French folk in a car or with you at an airport and you are a CDS holder…i.e …living on France…what queue do you join ?
Hi @Justme and welcome to the forum.
You’ve guessed correctly… this subject has been thrashed about quite a bit already…
If you click on the magnifying glass icon and type in your brief question (I just typed EES CdS) it comes up with threads incorporating the “typed words”… thus you can locate where we have discussed “whatever…”
Here is just one example…
There are many different Categories on the Forum… you might like to browse through the “Travel” Category… you’ve joined us on the “Ask Anything” category… which is fine to start with… but heading straight for the correct Category might be useful for you.
We are thinking about visiting Barbados soon. I’ve heard the beaches are stunning there. We’re considering reaching out to divi resorts customer service (here: https://www.pissedconsumer.com/company/divi-resorts/customer-service.html) as it has rave reviews. But first, we’ll visit our relatives in the UK, so I am also worried about the new rules.
From what I read, as a British CDS holder, you’ll need to go through the standard checks at UK ports, including fingerprints and photos. You will not get a stamp in your passport. If you enter the Schengen area through Dover, Eurotunnel at Folkestone, or St Pancras International, your fingerprints and photo will be taken before you leave the UK.
I think queues at borders may be longer when these changes begin.
I don’t know where you “read” it but this is complete rubbish - if you are a British citizen, no matter what your country of residence, you can go through the UK Nationals lane when entering the UK.
Though presumably it is accurate to say that if you leave the UK bound for France at ports where reciprocal checks are in place you will complete French immigration, including any fingerprints and/or photos for EES while still within the UK.
One wonders… Edited to make the link obvious and non-clickable.
