Not a gunshot heard
Congrats - Crit Air Centurion!
Er…in Paris I’m known by my face, not the other end
Hi Chris. I just applied for my sticker. Looks like a bit of a minefield. Think I’ll stick mine where they say and find a pragmatic mot tester.
BTW, are you related to a very good bass player called Phil? He looks a little like you!
We put ours bottom right as directed in the notes that we received with the sticker. It has been through several UK MOT’s with it in place - never even commented on.
There is normally an area bottom right which is outside the UK view area.
I think it depends where you go. I made the mistake of using an MOT station two minutes from the regional MOT inspector’s home once. He used to drop in quite a bit just to make up his call quota apparently and they definitely erred on the side of caution!
But not the official rules it seems.
One could always hack off the bottom four inches of the driver’s wiper. That should reduce the swept area sufficiently, and I see spare wheels on the bonnet are still OK. That’s a relief.
Read my post again. The fail was nothing to do with the sticker.
I like your thinking. And way more practical than extending the windscreen out three feet.
I have, you havent said what the fail was so can only assume you meant the local inspector stopped by and gave you a fail for something else which you didnt state so the flow of conversation sounded like sticker placement.
Sigh. Have a nice day
Furry dice and Christian crosses hanging from the rear view mirror are an MOT failure now?
Only if MOT stands for Matter Of Taste
“I think you need to keep the Crit Air sticker and buy a new car ”
The sticker is specific to the vehicle.
"Get one of those clear adhesive pockets like the ones used for CT/Insurance the correct size for the CritAir sticker and place it where the French want it.
Slide new CritAir sticker into pocket.
Remove CritAir sticker from pocket before next MoT, so that even if the idiots remove the pocket, you don’t have to apply for a new CritAir sticker."
Two problems.
-
It says it has to be stuck on the windscreen.
-
It says it has to be put on the outside of the windscreen.
I know what you mean. The instructions are pretty vague.
When it asked for the Serial Number, I entered the number at the top right corner, in the circle that says V5C.
Then I tried the Document reference number.
Finally figured out they wanted the VIN number.
It worked out fine. I’m UK based and put it bottom right hand corner of my UK car windscreen. Out of the way, but visible from outside. No issue going through the MOT.
Hello @CritairConfused and welcome to the forum…
I think you have misunderstood the instructions…
CritAir definitely say the vignette must “be visible from the outside”… which is not the same as “putting it on the outside”…
