UK cars - where to put your Crit'Air sticker

I should’ve paid more attention in the French lessons. :slightly_smiling_face:

And to which side the adhesive is :joy:

The front side has the adhesive- this would mean that it could only be read from the inside!

Caused me no end of confusion when applying it to me motorbike. I was having a particularly dim-witted day.

Here’s an idea.

If anyone knows where you get a sheet of that clear clingy stuff, that they use on tax disc holders, you could stick the Critair sticker to that, trim it to the square outline of the original sticker, and smear it onto the windscreen.

It could be peeled off for the MOT, then reapplied after the test.

When I originally received my sticker I put it in the bottom left corner as the bottom right was already occupying insurance and ct. No issues so far  it just works

The guidance is rather vague, hence my confusion.

On the letter that the sticker is attached to, it says:-

The certificate must be stick in a legible way from the outside of your vehicle.

The reason for the self destruct adhesive sticker is prevention of fraudulent use and using cling film or ‘pockets’ to attach a Crit’Air sticker is easily noticed and to result in a penalty.

Here’s the video (from CritAir site) which clearly shows how and where to put the Sticker…

It’s actually on both sides in case your vehicle doesn’t have a windscreen (motorbike, Renault Spider (?) etc)

For motorbikes it comes with a little square of adhesive film. You stick the disc to the film and then the film to the bike.

Was it written in English? It is poorly written anyway. But seeing the first bit of the instructions says you have to clean the inside of the windscreen you surely don’t need to be a genius to deduce that’s where you stick the certificate.

It doesn’t say that on my letter.

Fair enough… the link they offer takes you through the motions and you can get the same video as I’ve put up above… which clearly shows how to affix… and where…

but their letter leaves a little to be desired… … which has me wondering if you’ve not purchased through CritAir themselves (French Government) but one of the “other” intermediary sites…

No matter… so long as you put the sticker in the correct place… all will be well.

If they can manage decent English on their website… why is the letter so iffy…

I only paid 4.61 Euros, including tax and postage, so I’m guessing it was the official site.

I also appears that the invoice is acceptable as a temporary permit, if you are travelling while awaiting the arrival of your pass.

Your certificate will soon be sent by mail at the address indicated during your order.

In the wait , this invoice allows you to prove your approach and the classification of your vehicle.

As they are not taking any action yet, waiting doesnt matter

Is this debate STILL going on :joy:

How difficult can a sticker be? Humanity is doomed because a simple sticker proves too difficult

It’s the MOT testers who are the problem.

I still don’t understand this. Why is the CT or MOT a problem?
