In the UK it can be an MOT failure if there’s any obstruction to vision within the swept area of the windscreen wipers and some MOT testers can be quite enthusiastic in their assessment of swept area. So placement of the sticker can result in an MOT failure.
If an individual can’t work out where to place a Crit’air sticker to satisfy the French regs and UK MOT requirements then I am a little concerned that they regard themselves as competent to drive a motor vehicle …
So where would you put it, to satisfy Crit’Air and the MOT?
Sitting in the driver’s seat, facing forwards, at the bottom right of the windscreen. It’s really not difficult.
Make windscreen dirty
Put the wipers on once, so you see what the area they clean is
Put the sticker in the place critair said (was it bottom right?) outside the clean bit
Perfect…
There isn’t room on my car.
I do think we should aim for at least 150 answers to this thread. So I’m just helping.
I’m willing to do my bit!
After all, it’s a complex subject that needs to be considered from every possible angle
Your Crit Bit.
Congratulations!
Do you think the thread will stretch to 200? It’s already demonstrated remarkable elasticity…
Stretching things just a little bit more.
I have of course put mine top right of the screen. No trouble with the MOT & we’ll have to see if it’s recognised, should I ever drive into Reims.
Me too and it’s never been a problem in Paris.
A sticker is not allowed to be more than 40mm into area B (swept area) so if there is 31mm area spare outside the swept area then 39mm of the sticker could be in the swept area and still be fine. 70mm sticker. Very doubtful there isnt an area outside of the swept area on the windscreen at a convenient point.
Could we say that the wedge of windscreen where we put the sticker is somehow cheese-shaped?
And, as they vary so much in diameter, I wondered if you had a particular cheese in mind?
Er… to be safe, a slice out of a wheel of parmesan vacche rosse (my fave). At best, at the thick end of the wedge which you’d place near the rubber at the edge of the windscreen.
Though then the bit 9 or 10 inches further into the windscreen, along its bottom edge would be fractionally nicer tasting. As it would be from the inside of the Parmesan wheel.
See, another discussion we brought back to cheese.
At this rate it’ll be easier for people just to sell their car if they’re struggling to find a place to put the sticker.
Put it on top right, it doesn’t bloody matter Has anybody ANY evidence of anybody, anywhere, ever being penalised because it on the top right?
