I have French residency under Article 50 and intend to give it up. I still will visit France a lot but, for me, it is going to be easier that way rather than being an official resident. I think I read somewhere that all I needed to do was to write to the Prefecture, however, I only saw something online about that on one occasion and cannot find it again !
Obviously, I can return my Titre de Sejour but I can’t be sending my passport anywhere as I constantly need it.
I was wondering if anyone could point me to the official procedure, otherwise I will just end up doing what I mentioned above.
Thanks in advance
Simon

This is for french people so more complex, but covers tax health etc. Essentially if you sendback your carte de séjour mostother things fall away once this years’ tax is completed.
I am guessing you are thinking “easier” in terms of tax etc, in which case it is the tax office you need to be clarifying things with primarily, not the prefecture. Your tax status is not dependent on your having or not having a valid CdS or whether you are an “official” resident, it is based on where your main home is, where you spend your time, where you earn your money etc. Even sans papiers living here “unofficially” have to declare their income in France. So when you complete your upcoming tax return you will need to follow the instructions for those who have left France - state the exact date when you ceased being resident in France etc. Also you will need to amend the Mes Biens Immobiliers section of your espace to indicate that your property in France (if you are keeping it) became a résidence secondaire as of that same date. Then it is simply a matter of ensuring that you continue to meet the appropriate residence criteria i.e. basically that you pay UK taxes and you do not spend more time in France than in the UK, just in case France decides to check.
You also need to notify CPAM and send your carte vitale back.
And your bank will need to know, for KYC.
I do not know if you actually need to tell the prefecture, I see no particular reason why they would need to know. But most important to notify I think are the fisc, CPAM and your bank.

[/quote] I understand for ease you should just wander around Paris sticking two fingers up at anybody who looks official and shouting remember Agincourt.
