Alcohol free wine

Time for mischief.

Is alcohol free wine drinkable and how do they get the cats to squat over the bottles?

We tried a mixed case from Pierre Chavin last year and only the sauv blanc resembled wine, the chardonnay was nothing and the cab sauv was closer to Ribena. Donā€™t know about the sparkling wine as we gave it away to a friend who was having chemo.

Think the development of decent non-alcoholic wine is a long way behind that of non-alcoholic beer - and itā€™s not inexpensive! OTOH Iā€™ve had an alcohol-free Salers that was fine.

I bought an alcoholic ginger beer once. Never again. He was livid.

When I worked in Saudi we used to take alcohol free beer, add sugar and yeast, given time it made a rather palatable drink.

So you joined a day ago, and your first contribution is this. Why?

The best alcohol free beer Iā€™ve had remains Windhoek lager, brewed in Namibia to German purity laws and available throughout Southern Africa.

I donā€™t understand why you are asking and your responce.

I have had Windhoek in RSA, Namibia and Kenya, but never the NA version.

If you have a problem I will go away.

It was just a bit of fun.

I certainly consumed enough of the original. Iā€™d give the zero version a go too. Though Iā€™ve never been a real fan of Guinness, the 0.0 version is not bad.

Erdinger AF Weizenbier (wheat beer) is very good if you can get it. We buy it in the Alcampo hypermarket just off the motorway at Irun.

Alcohol free cheese !

Why not ?
Plenty of frivolous stuff on here.

Frankly, whether or not a drink has alcohol in it ā€¦ the most important thing is that it tastes nice.
Why bother to call something ā€œalcohol-free Wineā€ just call it Delish or something like thatā€¦ "an alcohol-free drink to enjoy as an apero, with or without foodā€¦or whenever you like. "

Probably because some people really must not for very good health reasons such as alcoholism, drink any form of alcohol, so it would be very bad form for alcohol to be apparently hidden in an otherwise ā€˜Delishā€™ drink.

Hahaha
Salers, Suze, AvĆØze, Gentiane de Lure and many many more: all so delicious :yum: much nicer than the cheese (not keen on Cantal and its family).

Compulsory on our local cheeseboardsā€¦ usually with Rocamadour and a Rocquefort.

My point is that I canā€™t understand why anyone needs to ā€œpretendā€ to drink an alcoholic beverageā€¦ wine, beer, gin, whisky etc

Delish was only a word at randomā€¦ it might just as easily have been Apple Juice, Prune Juice any sort of Juice or even good old Waterā€¦ :+1:

there are lots of soft drinks which do not cast nasturtiums on the person who chooses to drink 'em

There is no pretence by the drinker, they know what they are drinking and donā€™t get a dull head.
One problem with alcohol free beer is it makes me berb alot.
In a social setting I choose to drink sparkling water and get p_ssed of when asked, whatā€™s the matter arenā€™t you drinking as though its a given that I should.
I have drunk my fair share over the years but now chose not to.
We are due to attend a UK wedding soon and I have no doubt that there will be an uncle tw_t on the dance floor and a number of p_ssheads at the bar, canā€™t wait :see_no_evil:
