That’s what I was thinking about…this “fluid pre brexitishness…”…,as I say I have absolutely no idea about moving TO uk as I came to Brittany on a one way ticket…
There are a few crowd funding platforms…whilst it’s mostly not possible for any one of us to provide the funds needed for any given cause…it allows many to donate a little…(I’ve noticed a veteran crowd funding for the trump wall/Border/fence…$7 million raised last time I looked…!)
The various crowd funding platforms take a cut of however much is raised so any target amount has to take the platforms commission into account as well…
It was just a thought…you’re from brum and I’m Leicester so I was thinking the midlands too…but as I say I have no idea whether it’s a feasible thought or not…???
I really appreciate everyones input. Any positive advice is greatly considered. I looked into the embassy site but im not finding an email address. I would write them a letter but i dont have access to stamps. Same with the OFII. I was supposed to receive a letter from them for our appt but never heard anything
I went on fb and requested to join the group suggested. I am waiting approval.
As for my children and what they want…they never wanted to move here. I really wouldnt have relocated them if i knew this was all gonna be like this.
As far as government helping us…in our visa agreement we are not allowed to ask for any type of government help.
We do not and cant afford heat for our home…so us trying to save to move is impossible. We barely can afford food.
My husband feels like a big failure but he does his best. He works very hard in a very physical type of work. And to make all matters even more worse…our only transportation (22 yr old car) has decided to have electrical issues. He bein a mechanic…cant fix this type of problem.
Im not on here wanting sympathy…i need help and positive advice. Again, i thank everyone for caring.
My husband is fluent in English. Yes, im very spoiled and he has taught me a little. But for my simple brain…i have to submerged and using it all day and night. Sitting in a house completely isolated from french culture has hindered my learning. I listen to french tv and have tried online sites
From your previous posts you met online and your husband proposed when you arrived in Paris - so, unless I’m misreading the situation your status has changed since your original visa application.
And - a question for the wider audience - Meghann is now married to a French citizen, surely that means that state aid should be available to him - after all the “foyer” is now a family, not just him?
Again, i thank everyone for ur genuine concern for my lil family. Carl and i have been married almost 2 yrs. According to my visa, i cant request any government help while here. I must honor that because if i ever do wanna come back i want to be in good standings with france.
I think where carl and i went wrong…is we were dreamers. We spent almost 3 yrs apart…and we thought getting the kids far from the threats of their druggy dad and a fresh start -we could conquer all. But, life is about learning. And this was a huge lesson.
Again, feel free to give me advice. Cause as you all can see, im an open book and need outside opinion. I will submit my application to the OFII office just in case we have to stay a lil past our visa. It cost us €1200 to fly here…so we will try to raise money some how. And then life will start over once again when im in cali.
Many (((hugs))) to all
Firstly Meghann… you need to deal with today’s problems… heat and food. Your husband is working/earning in France and has entitlement to help to support his family…
It is up to him to deal with this. since he obviously has family not too far away… are they able to help keep the kids safe and warm… ??
The Mairie can put you and your husband in touch with Associations/Organizations who help folk in dire straits… and I am reading that your situation falls under this heading.
In a previous thread, you mentioned that the Mairie was not far down the road… so it should be no problem to visit.
There is a lot of help available… your husband (speaking French) is obviously the one to seek it… but you, as mother and wife, can also do your bit.
Not a moment to lose, I reckon… I know your area… you are not that isolated… and you need to do something NOW for your children…
Maire office is open Tuesday and Thursday. So i had planned to go on thursday. I already have a lil letter i have written using google translate…so, even i forget to mention what i am actively doing…i thank you for ur ideas and concern
As for his family… parents reside in Normandy and his sister just ten minutes away has made it very clear she does not like me or my children. So sadly, no help from her.
Yes, indeed… I saw that somewhere too… so the Maire knows of this young family.
As Maire he should be made aware of what is happening…of their plight… he has a certain responsibility towards the citizens in his commune… to point them in the right direction for help…
Secours Catholique should also be alerted… they can give support and get Meghann linked-in to aid …
Edit: (Meghann, you and/or Carl should contact these people.)
The whole situation seems very odd, Meghann says she has no access to a telephone or to stamps, her husband went to spend Christmas “with his family” but surely she is his family? What does he actually do? Are they actually married? I mean properly? If they are married they should get child benefit from the CAF etc, this whole situation seems very very weird. Make an appointment with an assistante sociale asap, that might be a start.
