Previously posted (at least 4 times) but worth airing again.
I didn’t know that, but as you say, worth reading again, and for those who haven’t seen it before. A description that is still current today, in my opinion.
I don’t think, hope not, that the entire world is goosed but I do note Trump is designing his autocracy along the lines of China:
“The Trump administration, moving quickly to clamp down on health and science agencies, has canceled a string of scientific meetings and instructed federal health officials to refrain from all public communications, including upcoming reports focused on the nation’s escalating bird flu crisis.
“Experts who serve on outside advisory panels on a range of topics, from antibiotic resistance to deafness, received emails on Wednesday telling them their meetings had been canceled.
The cancellations followed a directive issued on Tuesday by the acting director of the federal Department of Health and Human Services, who prohibited the release of any public communication until it had been reviewed by a presidential appointee or designee, according to federal officials and an internal memo reviewed by The New York Times.”
Trump will now control the narrative on all US health. Freedom of information is dying.
Avian influenza is a big deal in Texas right now. Unlike COVID, AI is potentially very dangerous and could solve over-population issues for a generation. If the worst did happen and a lack of communication with the outside world prevented managing the disease until it was too late then the world could be goosed. I’d like to think that free speech laws plus the habit of scientists talking to each other would ensure communication did still happen.
Hopefully RFK Jn can begin to sort out some of Americas health issues. Thats what he spoke up about prominently during the election rallies.
A totally unqualified jackass. He couldn’t sort anything out IMO, well maybe brain worms, or dead bear disposal or whale head collecting. And remember his boss advocated injecting bleach to cure Covid.
It’s a bloody disaster,
Bloody idiots.
How do you know if politicians are lying?
Their lips move
Even an idiot can be right sometimes so if it was all hot air then nothing changes but we watch and see,
We’ve definitely been testing that premise over the last few years.
Well worth considering the impact on currency markets and therefore funding, budgets and lifestyle. Since Trump won, 100 days ago in, USDEUR rates have moved by 9%!
9% meaning it is much cheaper for anyone coming over from the US. Saying that, it never moves in a straight line and has changed 2.5% in the last 10 days!!!
Make sure to have a look at it if you have not already and have funds over in the US. Let me know what you think.
Unfortunately, there is nothing stopping a Trump scale idiot from being wrong 100% of the time.
It was an anology based on a broken clock that is at least right 2 x a day
I think you should stop peddling your services here.

@cat ?
SteveE, the US-euro exchange rate today is the same as it was last fall when we visited France, under President Biden.
Think @cat knows/is ok with it

Pound to Euro at 2½-Year High * Weak Eurozone PMI data has pushed the euro lower. GBP/EUR is resting at its highest levels since April 2022.
Buyers ‘budgets’ have gone up 4% since August. This is helpful if you’re buying now, or planning a viewing trip in the near future; meaning your search budget can possibly increase too. For example, if you have a UK budget of £500k, you now get €20 000 more compared to back in August this summer.

Euro to US Dollar at a 2-Year Low The euro’s decline has pushed USD / EUR up 7.5% since October. Right now USD-based buyers are in a really strong position when buying in France; an €800k property is now nearly $60k cheaper than 50 days …
Okay, okay, I know I have been a bit remiss on this one but I PROMISE (eh @SteveEakins !), that this is going to be a regular Friday thing from here on in….
Actually he’s peddling with my blessing. And full encouragement.
If everyone using this site contributed 20 quid a year I could run it entirely free for end users. Unfortunately that isn’t happening!
I’m always happy to contribute a few euros, but it’s not the easiest thing to do - I can never find (or remember ) the link to do it.
